Is this DoorDash offer actually worth taking?

A delivery offer is more than its headline payout. Count the unpaid pickup, delivery route, likely wait, and operating cost before deciding.

Start with the whole trip

A $9 offer can be reasonable when the pickup is close and the route is fast—or weak when several unpaid miles and a long restaurant wait come first.

  1. How far must you drive before paid work begins? Count the route to the restaurant.
  2. How many total minutes and miles will the job consume? Include pickup, waiting, and delivery.
  3. What remains after vehicle cost? Use a realistic cost for your own vehicle.

No single rule fits every market

Traffic, parking, restaurant delays, return travel, taxes, and your vehicle all matter. Dollars per mile is useful, but it should be considered with dollars per hour and where the delivery leaves you.
